Houston Is Transforming Into a Reality Show Hub

Houston was born ready for its close-up.

Houston, known for its variety of neighborhoods, cultures, restaurants and personalities, is quickly becoming a hub for reality television. Whether it’s for just an episode or an entire season, several reality shows have chosen Houston as a backdrop. City residents are also joining in the spotlight with locals participating in several recent and upcoming shows. From cooking competitions to dating shows, check out the list below where you might recognize a familiar face. 

Married at First Sight

Season 13 of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight focuses on Houstonian’s looking for life-long love. After a rigorous interview process, a team of experts, including Houston native, Dr. Viviana Coles, match locals with other Houston singles. The couples don’t meet until their wedding day and stay married until decision day when they decide to either stay married or get a divorce. The Houston season is currently airing on Lifetime with new episodes Wednesdays at 7pm. 

Top Chef-Houston 

Top Chef has chosen Houston for the show’s upcoming season, with Houston Chef Dawn Burrell making a return as a “Top Chef All-Star.” Season 19 of the reality cooking competition will feature talented chefs from around the city and is expected to premiere in 2022. 

Ready to Love

Ready to Love returned for a third season based out of Houston. The cast explores dating and relationships with other Houston hopefuls, looking for long-lasting relationships. You can stream the show on OWN or Discovery+. 

Indian Matchmaking

Netflix’s dating show, Indian Matchmaking, centers around professional matchmaker, Sima Taparia, who helps guide clients in the arranged marriage process. Sima meets with clients to get a feel for who would make their perfect match and then sets them up on dates. The show jumps between Houston and New Jersey. Stand-out single and lawyer Aparna Shewakramani, is Houston-based. 

House of Ho 

House of Ho tells the story of how a husband and wife immigrated from Vietnam to the U.S. to realize their American dream. The show chronicles the daily lives of Binh and Hue Ho, along with daughter Judy Ho, son Washington Ho and his wife Lesley Ho, Aunt Tina and Cousin Sammy. Get an inside look at the lavish Houston lifestyle of the Ho family on HBO+. 

The Bachelor

Season 26 of The Bachelor is set to air in early 2022, but spoilers of the upcoming season are already circulating. One revealing  H-Town will be the location for one of the group dates. According to Reality Steve, crews were spotted filming at NRG and at The Post, which is a new hub for food and shopping opening in November. The cast and crew also stayed at the C Baldwin Curio Collection on Dallas St.
