PITTSBURGH, PA — The Monterey Pub, which built a loyal following despite its tucked away presence in the North Side's Mexican War Streets, has reopened after a closure that saw an ownership change and a modernization of the neighborhood bar under new owners.

The bar officially welcomed patrons Wednesday after a soft opening last weekend. The menu has been updated and the pub's famous jukebox appears to be gone. But reaction to the reopening has been overwhelmingly positive on social media and that hasn't gone unnoticed by the new owners.

"It's the moment we have all been waiting for," they stated in a post on the pub's Facebook page. "We look forward to presenting a modernly historic experience to the North Side and hope to see you all real soon."

Initially, the bar will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight, with the kitchen open until 10 p.m. Weekend brunch hours will be announced soon.

"As previous owners pass the torch on to the next, this pub has remained an infamous gathering spot for generations," the Facebook post stated. "Cheers to many more."
