OAKLAND — A 14-year-old driver of a red SUV that was carjacked last week slammed head-on into another SUV on Wednesday, injuring himself, four other teenage boys and a woman, police said.

All six were taken by ambulance to hospitals in the area. None had life-threatening injuries, police said.

The other four teenagers all were either 14 or 15 years old and in an SUV that had been carjacked Oct. 14 from a woman in the city’s Laurel District, police said. That woman wasn’t injured in the carjacking.

Police were investigating to see if any of the teens in that SUV were involved in the carjacking itself.

The driver of the other SUV was that vehicle’s only occupant, police said. Witnesses pulled her from her vehicle.

“You’re not gonna leave a person right there when you see everything going on,” said Naul Manzanarez, who helped pull the woman from the blue SUV. “You’re going to help. You want to help when things happen like that.”

The crash happened in the 3000 block of Park Boulevard, close to Eighth Avenue. The previously carjacked SUV was traveling south on Park Boulevard toward International Boulevard when it hit the blue SUV head-on, according to police and witness accounts.

Police were investigating.
