ROCKFORD  — Rockford trick or treaters won't have to use plastic grocery bags or pillowcases to collect candy this year thanks to the Silky Screens Print Company

The Silky Screens Print Company plans to give away 300 specially designed tote bags to anyone who wants one.

In previous years, the Rockford-based company has done free Halloween t-shirts, but with supply being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic the company settled on tote bags for the first time.

"We like the time of year, and we just wanted to get the kids involved," Shop manager Dirk Springer said.

Anyone who has their heart set on a bag should place their free order on the company's website, silkyscreens.net, and select the local pick-up option.

Then, they can pick up their bag at the store, 1631 Rural St., between 4 and 7 p.m. on Halloween.

"You'll see a lot of parents dressed up and the kids are all dressed, and you know it's just something different than when people just give you Butterfinger or Kit Kat or something like that," Springer said. "They get to have something to remember Halloween night."
