Fort Myers singer Ryleigh Plank got some big reactions from the judges Tuesday on "The Voice."

Take, for example, Kelly Clarkson, who jumped to her feet during Plank’s performance and had this to say: “What the HELL?!?

Clarkson’s stunned reaction came after Plank hit a particularly high note on the Christina Aguilera song "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)." Plank and sister trio KCK3 sang the song together as they competed in Tuesday night’s Battle Rounds.

Plank’s confident performance and loose-limbed dancing won over all the judges, including the most important one: Her coach, pop singer Ariana Grande. And Grande gave her the vote she needed Tuesday night.

"The winner of this battle," Grande said, "is Ryleigh."

Now the Cypress Lake High graduate is moving on to the Knockout Rounds, which start next week.

"I think Ryleigh is just an angel and a vocal goddess," Grande said after choosing Plank. "She could absolutely go all the way. I don't think there's a thing that that girl can't sing."

After the performance, the judges had nothing but praise for the singers — but especially for Plank.

“Ryleigh, you are like a revelation,” John Legend said. “Your physical energy was so captivating. Your body’s like elastic, the way it moves. It’s so intriguing to watch you perform and have so much joy exuding from you.”

The judges had lots to say about her confidence and dance moves, too.

“You’re moving so much, and you’re so into it,” Clarkson said. “It’s so interesting, knowing nothing about you and me thinking like, ‘Oh my gosh. She is like so powerful, she’s so confident.’ … Literally, you are a light on that stage.”

The performance was filmed over the summer in Los Angeles.

Ryleigh Plank, 20, of Fort Myers competes Oct. 4 during the Blind Auditions on The Voice.

Ryleigh Plank says she’s always wanted to be a singer. She remembers watching pop stars like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston on TV and realizing she wanted to do the same thing.

She was 6 at the time.

“I wanted to be doing exactly what they were doing, and I still want to be doing that — and I think I always will,” she told The News-Press and the Naples Daily News earlier this month. “I think it’s just one of those things. ... It is just sort of what I am meant to do, and I think I just had that realization very early.”

“The Voice” is a key part of achieving that goal, and Plank hopes it kickstarts her musical career.

“It’s sort of crazy because my dreams that I’ve had since I was a child are sort of actualizing right before me,” she says. “And my little me would just be through the roof knowing that this was happening right now (laughs).”
