Big Spike: Connecticut COVID-19 Positivity Rate At 30-Day High

CONNECTICUT — Coronavirus infections have spiked abruptly in Connecticut, in the latest set of data released by the Department of Public Health.

With 709 cases confirmed Monday, out of 24,702 tests taken, the daily positivity rate reported Tuesday afternoon was 2.87 percent, the highest it has been since Sept. 17.

Hospitalizations climbed one bed overnight. As of Tuesday, there are 248 people being treated for the virus inside Connecticut hospitals.

Most of those hospitalized (74) are in New Haven County.

Out of the 1,967 cases of COVID-19 recorded by the state Department of Public Health in the past seven days, 654, or 33.2 percent, were among residents who had already been completely vaccinated.
