Walgreens shuts down five more stores in San Francisco because of theft

Walgreens is closing five more stores in crime-ridden San Francisco due to rampant shoplifting by thieves who walk past security guards and sell items outside the drugstore chain's doors.

In the last two years, the national chain has closed 17 of its 70 San Francisco locations due to shelf raiders, who have stolen everything not behind a lock and key.

According to company officials, thefts in the chain's remaining 53 stores are five times higher than the national average.
