Phoenix Police arrest suspect in homicide and armed robbery case

PHOENIX –Police arrested and booked 30-year-old male Jose Martinez on Saturday after investigating a homicide and armed robbery case in north Phoenix, according to a press release.
Just after 4 a.m. on Friday morning, police responded to a welfare check near 19th and Alice Avenues. Officers found a deceased adult male on the side of the road with obvious signs of trauma.
Soon after, Phoenix police responded to the area of 19th and Dunlap Avenues to follow reports of an armed robbery. The suspect was found and detained, per a prior release.
Police believed that the preliminary information pointed to the two incidents being related. Investigators questioned the suspect ahead of his arrest.
