Crime of the week: Suspect steals vehicles from different owners in 26-minute timespan

A man robbed a woman at gunpoint and took her car; the suspect then forced a man out of his truck and stole it—all in 26 minutes.

El Paso police need help to identify the suspect in the Crime Stoppers of El Paso's Crime of the Week.

On Sept. 5, at 5:56 p.m., in West El Paso, a woman walked to her car at the Pear Tree Apartment complex at 222 Bartlett Drive. An armed man demanded the keys to her car, and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s 2015 Ford Fiesta.

Soon after, at 6:22 p.m., the suspect jumped out of the stolen car and forced a man out of his 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck at Railroad Drive and Quail Avenue in Northeast El Paso. 

When stealing the pickup truck, the suspect fired the handgun up in the air. The stolen pickup truck was found near Austin High School.

The suspect is a skinny build man with green eyes and a tattoo near his left eye. He was wearing a black hooded jacket the day of the incident.
