Phoenix police arrest man accused of killing tow truck driver

A man accused of shooting a tow truck driver near 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road was arrested Friday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police identified the man as 29-year-old Luis Mauricio Delgadillo Garcia, who was arrested and accused of first-degree murder and use of weapons and explosives, among other charges.

The driver, who was identified as Evanni Corona, 31, was found on Sept. 1 inside a tow truck with a gunshot wound near 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road, according to Phoenix police.

Police had initially responded to the area over a report of a stabbing. When police located the victim, Corona was taken in critical condition to a hospital where he later died, police said.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched on behalf of Corona's family to help cover his funeral expenses, with a goal of $10,000. As of Friday evening, they had raised almost $2,000.

"I am overwhelmed by pain when I inform you of the death of our dear friend Evanni Barud Galarza Corona," the page reads, organized by Kris Galvan. "We feel devastated by this fatal and unexpected loss."
