NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- During the first week of enforcement of New York City’s indoor vaccine mandate, hundreds of businesses have been warned to keep a closer eye on things.

Inspectors from several city agencies conducted around 5,500 enforcement inspections of “Key to NYC” at places like restaurants, gyms, bars and more so far, PIX11 reported Friday.

As of Friday, more than 2,000 warnings had reportedly been doled out.

Enforcement of the mandate starts with a warnings, but can lead to fines.

Indoor dining, fitness and entertainment venues fall under the mandate for anyone 12+. The plan was rolled out in August, but wasn’t enforced before Monday.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said people only need to show proof if they’ve gotten a single dose of the vaccine to be permitted in businesses — even if their vaccine requires two doses.

Proof of vaccination came down through the New York Excelsior pass, a CDC vaccination card or via the NYC COVID Safe app.
