1 injured in shooting at Concord Mall in Brandywine Hundred, no threat to public, police say

First responders swarmed Concord Mall in Brandywine Hundred on Friday afternoon after receiving reports of a shooting at the Route 202 shopping center, police said.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the mall shortly after 4:30 p.m., radio scanner traffic said. There, they found one man shot.

At 5:10 p.m., Delaware State Police issued a news release saying troopers were "conducting a criminal investigation" at the shopping center. Shortly after 6 p.m., they updated reporters, confirming the shooting.

Police said the incident was "not a random act of violence" and that there is no threat to the public. Troopers have since "cleared the mall and contained the scene."

The shooter, who witnesses said fired one or two shots, fled after the shooting. Police said they do not yet have a description.

Namdar Realty Group, the mall's owner and operator, said the mall "will likely be closed for the remainder of the evening, but there is no further comment or information available at this time."
