Detroit Police searching for suspect in case of woman set on fire

(WWJ) Detroit Police are asking for help from the public to locate a suspect in the case of a woman who was intentionally set on fire.

According to investigators, at around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, a suspect threw an accelerant on the 40-year-old female victim and set her on fire.

The victim was taken to local hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

It's unclear at this time what prompted the horrific attack, in the area of Whitlock and Heyden, near Evergreen Rd. and W. Warren Ave.

Friday afternoon, police were looking for 23-year-old Vernon Woods, Jr., who has been identified as a suspect in the case. He is described as 5’3” tall and weighing around 135 lbs.
