This Open-Air Coffee and Cocktail Bar and Atlanta’s Latest Brewpub Are Now Open

Holiday Bar — Howell Mill at the Interlock

Open-air coffee and cocktail bar Holiday Bar opened this week at the Interlock at the corner of Howell Mill Road and 14th Street. Owned by Dave Reed and Ryan Covert and housed in a custom-built structure made of mesh and plastic designed by Atlanta-based Square Feet Studios, the bar serves Thrive Farmers coffee and coffee drinks starting in the morning, eventually followed by cocktails later in the day. Holiday Bar is still awaiting its liquor license before it begins serving. For now, people can enjoy coffee, tea, and bagels on the dog-friendly, covered patio, at high top seating along the rail, or at the bar, which is currently open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours expand to 10 p.m. for coffee and 2 a.m. for cocktails, once Holiday Bar receives it liquor license.

“The cocktails are going to take you on a holiday (vacation) to various parts of the globe,” a representative tells Eater.

Located across from Westside Provisions District, the $450 million Interlock complex includes apartments and newly opened boutique hotel the Bellyard, an incubator space from Georgia Technology Ventures, and a location of co-working company WeWork. Locations of Saint-Germain Bakery and Cafe, mini golf bar and restaurant Puttshack, and Velvet Taco, and cocktail bar and lounge Drawbar at the Bellyard Hotel have all opened at the development. Self-service beer bar Pour Taproom, Miami resort-style pool, bar, restaurant venue Leave of Absence, pizzeria Humble Pie, and a second location of Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches are all expected to open at the Interlock over the next several months.

Biggerstaff Brewing Company — Old Fourth Ward

Biggerstaff Brewing Company is now open and serving coffee, beer, and food next door to Staplehouse Market on Edgewood Avenue. The brewpub first opened for coffee last weekend and sees Biggerstaff transform into a cafe in the mornings, serving Intelligentsia coffee and espresso drinks as well as pastries. Owners Clay Davies and Sarah Davies nabbed Staplehouse chef and owner Ryan Smith to help create the food menu for the brewpub. The menu from Smith and chef Davis King features charcuterie and shareable snacks, like onion rings, burgers, sandwiches, and salads, all meant to pair with Biggerstaff’s beers, which include IPAs, sours, coffee brews, and a smoked pale ale. Seating is available inside and on the open-air patio flanking Edgewood. Garage doors allow fresh air to flow through to the inside, making the taproom seem more like a covered patio at times on warm or rainy days.

Currently open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with Sunday hours beginning September, 26. Follow on Instagram for brewpub food service hours, which may vary during the first few weeks. Eater reached out for more details on the food menu and beers.
