With exciting water slides, a 700,000-gallon (3,000,000-liter) wave pool and kid-friendly attractions, you’ll find the fun of Six Flags White Water just northwest of Atlanta. Then, after all the exertion, you’ll need somewhere to recuperate – so we’ve made a list of our favorite hotels nearby, bookable on Culture Trip.

A hugely individual hotel – there’s an almost artisan feel here, building the sense that you’re getting a truly unique experience. Filled with custom furniture, original artwork and found objects from Asia and beyond, the Burgess revels in the details and gives them a luxury finish. There’s an outdoor pool, a gym, and a bar for that evening cocktail.

You may find there’s no need for Six Flags after spending time in this incredible hotel’s 40,000sqft (3720sqm) pool area, complete with a waterfall and adjoining cafe. If you want to get away from the water for a while, there’s also a full-service spa, gym, billiard room, various event spaces, a restaurant and a tea room – and that’s not to mention the bedrooms. In a nutshell, they are sumptuous, with every detail considered – you won’t be disappointed.

Everything you need to launch into all the area has to offer – and with a complimentary hot breakfast, too. Off Interstate 285, this classic yet contemporary building is a 13-minute walk from Cumberland Mall and 1mi (1.6km) from the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. The modern rooms – in shades of grey with pops of color – feature HDTV, a microwave, coffee maker and mini-fridge. Amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center and free wifi.

The ever-reliable Hampton Inn brand serves up another doozy. Only 3mi (4.8km) from Six Flags White Water, 5mi from Marietta Square and just off Interstate 75, its location is merely the start of its appeal. The welcoming and modern rooms feature free wifi, as well as mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs and coffee makers – and suites have microwaves, wet bars and sofas. Hotel facilities include an indoor pool and a fitness center, while breakfast comes free.

The Hotel Indigo brand has a knack of taking the reliability you get with a huge chain and deftly mixing it with a twist of that boutique feel – the attention to detail will make you feel very pampered indeed. Off I-285, this delightful hotel is 10mi (16km) from both Georgia World Congress Center and Six Flags. The rooms are beautifully appointed with luxurious touches, bold wall murals and sleek, indulgent bathrooms.

A Southern belle of a Queen Anne mansion, this B&B is a seven-minute walk from Marietta Square and 20mi (32km) from Atlanta.
