Candidates answer questions on crime at Atlanta mayoral forum

The event was hosted by the Atlanta Police Foundation.

ATLANTA — Atlanta's public safety leaders are putting pressure on the next mayor to keep families safe.

At a Mayoral Forum Thursday night, Atlanta Police, the Sheriff's Office, the F.B.I., and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office all agreed that it's a big task to take on.

However, they mentioned a big focus should go to stopping gang violence.

"I will tell you this, first of all, getting the criminal street gangs is an issue in our state and not just the city of Atlanta. It's something that I can see all over. The state would report cases in small south Georgia towns, the worst cases in north Georgia, middle Georgia. And certainly, the issue is here in the city and it has to be addressed," said Special Agent Vic Reynolds of the FBI.

You can hear how the candidates responded on 11Alive.com and 11Alive's Youtube page.
