Few things go better together than Texas and country music.

Texas has given the world country greats like George Strait, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker, and Kenny Rogers, just to name a few. It's also home to historic dance halls and honky tonks like the Broken Spoke, Billy Bob's Texas, and Gruene Hall.

So it's know surprise that the Austin-based LawnStarter included multiple Texas cities on it's 2021 list of "Best Cities for Country Music Fans." It ranked 180 of the nation's largest cities based on five factors that make a strong music scene, like number of country radio stations and concerts in an area and google searches by fans.

Within the top 20 cities were three from Texas: San Antonio (#11), Austin (#12), and Lubbock (#13).

LawnStarter also found that San Antonio is tied for first place with Nashville, Tennessee, for the most country radio stations in the nation.

Oddly enough, Killeen came in dead last on the list. It seems unfair that the Killeen was dinged for hosting few country concerts since major acts are more likely to perform in Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas, and those cities are just a short drive away.

The top 5 cities overall:

  1. Nashville, Tennessee
  2. Las Vegas, Nevada
  3. St. Louis, Missouri
  4. Salt Lake City, Utah
  5. Grand Rapids, Michigan
