West Riverfront Block Party to feature music, food and fun this weekend in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- One of the last big events of the summer will happen this Saturday along the Detroit Riverfront.

The West Riverfront Block Party will have something for everyone with acrobatic Jet-Ski demonstrations, food trucks, a family-friendly Adventure Zone that features a 300-foot zip line, and more.

Both local and national musical acts from a variety of genres are also set to perform at the festival, some of which include New World Soul, Brownstone, and El DeBarge.

WWJ’s Tony Ortiz spoke to Detroit Riverfront Conservancy CFO William Smith, who said that the event will observe safety protocols while still offering up a weekend of fun for metro Detroiters.

“It is the culmination of a year of hard work and watching the numbers and making sure we have all the safety protocols,” he said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun for the community, families to come down and enjoy and we’re extremely excited about it.”

West Riverfront Block Party takes place Saturday, September 18 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at West Riverfront Park, which is located at 1801 W. Jefferson in downtown Detroit.

Admission to West Riverfront Block Party is $5.  Children under three are admitted free.
