A new Netflix show is filming in Wilmington and the production is searching for several paid extras in the area.

"Florida Man" is a crime show that will premiere on the streaming giant, focusing on an ex-cop who "returns to his home state of Florida to find a mobster's runaway girlfriend," per WRAL. TW Cast & Recruit issued a "rush call" on Wednesday (September 15) in search for background actors for many different scenes in the show.

According to the casting call, extras local to the Wilmington area can apply for three roles: "Scuba Diver types," "car drivers," and "guys at bar." The roles will take place Friday (September 17), but anyone submitting to be extras must be available to get a COVID test in Wilmington between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday (September 16).

Extras will be paid $80 for a day or work, plus $20 for getting a COVID test.

Here are the details for each role:

  • Scuba Diver Types: all genders and ethnicities, ages 18-40s, beach bum/surfer appearance. Scuba gear is not needed. They ask that those applying for the role were not included in the Philadelphia-set scenes of the show. Apply here.
  • Car Drivers: all genders and ethnicities, 18 and up. Anyone submitting for this role must have a smaller car, no trucks or SUVs. No red or white colored cars. Apply here.
  • Guys at Bar: looking for extras to portray men, any ethnicity, ages 20 to early 40s. Check only "9/17" in the application. Apply here.

Two additional roles were posted Wednesday afternoon to film on Monday (September 20). Anyone applying for these roles must get a COVID test between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday. Learn more about this casting call here.

  • Non-designated (ND) Drive-by Cars: all genders and ethnicities, ages 18 and up. Anyone submitting for this role must have a smaller car, no trucks or SUVs. No red or white colored cars. Apply here.

All extras on the production ages 12 years and up are required by Netflix to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate, meaning you must be two weeks out from your last dose. Call times could be as early as 5 a.m. and filming could last for 12 hours. If filming exceeds eight hours, extras will get paid time and a half for each extra hour.
