Santa Rosa police announce multiple firearm arrests, including known gang members
Santa Rosa police have announced the arrests of multiple people, including known gang members caught with illegal firearms.
Over the course of several hours, beginning on the night of August 19 and continuing into the early hours of August 20, police arrested three individuals in connected to the alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Around 8 PM on August 19th, an officer pulled over Noe Hernandez-Barrera of Santa Rosa after reportedly witnessing him commit a traffic violation in the area of Dutton Avenue, which in turn led to the discovery of a .9mm Glock with a laser pointer. Hernandez-Barrera was arrested and booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a loaded firearm not by a registered owner.
A few hours later, around 11 PM, officers conducting a security check on the 2600 block of North Coast Street — an area police say is frequented by gang activity — contacted fifteen or so people drinking behind an apartment complex. Several of them fled but officers detained some of them, ultimately arresting Jose Fuentes on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and gang enhancements.
Finally, around 1 AM on August 20, officers pulled over Martin Oliver Jr. along Moorland Avenue for a vehicle code violation and discovered he was wanted in connection to a felony assault investigation. Oliver, a known gang member, was arrested and placed into the custody of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
