Netflix crime show 'Florida man,' filming in Wilmington, looking for extras

A Netflix TV show being filmed in Wilmington is looking for paid extras to act as scuba divers and car drivers on Friday. Talent agencies are also looking for men ages 20 to 40 to sit in a bar.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A new Netflix TV show being filmed in Wilmington is looking for paid extras to act as scuba divers and car drivers on Friday. Talent agencies are also looking for men ages 20 to 40 to sit in a bar.

All extras 12 years and older must be vaccinated and be tested for coronavirus prior to filming.

The TV Show, "Florida Man," is a crime show focusing on an ex-cop, who "returns to his home state of Florida to find a mobster's runaway girlfriend."

IMB reports that Isaiah Johnson, actor in the TV series "Person of Interest," will be in the show. Donald Todd — who has worked on TV shows like This is Us — will be the series' writer and showrunner. Actor and producer Jason Bateman will also help with the show's production

Extras will be paid $80 for a day of work, plus an additional $20 for getting tested for COVID-19.

Scuba divers must be look like "beach bums," according to the casting agency. No scuba gear is required.

People who audition to drive cars must be older than 18 and must bring a small car that is not white or red.

Call times could be as early as 5 a.m., and filming could last for 12 hours, so be prepared, the agency says. If filming exceeds eight hours, extras will get paid time and a half for every hour that goes overtime.

Filming is scheduled to end on Nov. 16 and will consist of eight hour-long episodes.
