Los Feliz’s New Goldburger Is a Burger Powerhouse in a Tiny Package

It’s shaping up to be quite the burger day around Los Angeles, as evidenced by this morning’s news of Hollywood Burger’s second location (finally) opening in West Hollywood. Next up is Goldburger, the popular pandemic pop-up turned restaurant in Highland Park, as owner Allen Yelent plans to fire up the griddle and the fryers for his own second location tomorrow, this one in Los Feliz.

The new Goldburger, much like the original on York, will focus mostly on takeaway sales as a natural part of running such a small operation on a busy, walkable street. The tiny shop, wedged between Skylight Books and the Los Feliz Theater, has had many lives over the past decade, but few are poised for as much immediate success as the popular Goldburger. Yelent, who previously worked in coffee while plotting his early burger pop-ups, has managed to outpace much of the smash-style burger competition around crowded Los Angeles, thanks in part to a menu that also includes options like a pastrami and a thicker six-ounce pub-style bar burger.

Yelent tells Eater that the new Los Feliz location, which opens for daytime through dinner hours on Thursday, September 16, will keep the same menu as the Highland Park restaurant, meaning fries, patty melts, grilled cheeses, and pie slices are heading west as well. The menu is already hanging next to the takeout window at the Los Feliz location, and a few mock service nights earlier this week means the team should be ready to roll for pickup, takeout, and limited on-site dining — including two standing rails inside and a pair of small cafe tables on the sidewalk. Goldburger Los Feliz keeps hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday through Monday at 1820 N. Vermont Avenue.
