BROOKLYN, NY — A woman who mowed down pedestrians on a sidewalk in Brooklyn has been charged with murder after good samaritans made sure she didn't run away from the crash, according to police.

Layla Adredini, 30, tried to flee into a building on Pacific Street after mounting the curb with her Ford Explorer and crashing into 70-year-old Brenda Whidbee and a 50-year-old man near Thomas Boyland and Pacific streets around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, according to police.

But good samaritans in the building, where Whidbee lived, stopped Adredini from leaving until police arrived, cops said.
