UGA pollsters look at Atlanta mayor’s race

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess who will replace Keisha Lance Bottoms as Atlanta’s mayor after the November election.

The top two candidates in Atlanta’s race for mayor are locked in a statistical tie. That’s according to a new poll commissioned by the AJC and conducted by the University of Georgia. Former Mayor Kasim Reed gets the support of 23-and-a-half percent of likely voters, while City Council President Felicia Moore is right behind at 20.4 percent. That’s within the margin of error. The other 12 candidates are down in the single digits.

Adding to the uncertainty, more than 40 percent of likely voters say they’re undecided.

If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote on November second, the race will head to a runoff between the top two finishers.
