Houston concert goers were eager to see Harry Styles perform live last night at the Toyota Center for his world tour, however, Hurricane Nicholas had other plans.  

After being advised to postpone his show from local officials, Styles tweeted, “Unfortunately, due to the approaching storm in Houston, I’ve been advised that tonight’s show at the Toyota Center can’t happen. Safety must take priority, so please go home and be safe. I’m so sorry, thank you for understanding. I love you all. H.”

Hurricane Nicholas hit Houston overnight, quickly losing its strength as it made landfall turning the category one hurricane into a tropical depression. The Greater Houston area has seen  flooded roads, debris in the streets, and power outages so far. 

Due to the city’s past with dangerous flooding, it was better for fans to be safe than sorry. 

Styles is a pop artist that found fame during his time on the British music competition, The X-Factor. It was through this show that he was place into the boy band, One Direction, in 2010. The show allowed the boy band to rise to fame quickly, winning the hearts of teen girls worldwide. One Direction stayed together until their hiatus in 2015, which was sparked by previous band member Zayn Malik going solo. The boy band’s break-up left supporters heartbroken.

However, when Styles began his solo career with his self-titled album, Harry Styles, in 2017, fans were ecstatic and ready to support the star once again. Since then, the now men’s-fashion-style-maven followed his debut album with his latest project, Fine Line, and has had multiple singles on the BillBoard charts.

Styles was due to tour for this second album when COVID-19 hit, causing him to postpone dates to this year. With a second postponed concert, Houston fans were left dismayed as shown from the replies to his initial tweet.

The Toyota Center released a statement on their website telling fans to, “please hold onto your tickets and stay tuned for more information.”
