New president chosen for Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce has named John Rolfe as its new president and chief executive officer.   He will begin work on October 4th, taking over for Gary Plummer who stepped down in April.

Rolfe has been the Chief Business Officer for the Kansas Leadership Center since 2019, when he returned to Wichita after working for the Houston First Corporation in Texas.  He was president and CEO of the Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau, now known as Visit Wichita, from 2001 to 2012.    Before that he served as the Vice President of Economic Development for the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to 2001.

Chamber board chairman Ben Hutton said in a press release that “John is a proven leader with a deep understanding of our community.  Well known in our region, he has a wealth of leadership experience in business, civic and government organizations which allows him to understand the perspectives of all of our members.”

Rolfe will be the Chamber’s first African-American president and CEO.
