OPA-LOCKA, FLA. (WSVN) - An 8-year-old boy is back home after he was hospitalized following a shooting in Opa-Locka.
Damarri Robinson was shot in the area of Fisherman Street, near the Sesame Street intersection, while he was playing with friends near his home at around 1:30 p.m., Saturday.
When asked by a relative where he came under fire, the boy replied, “In the field.”
On Monday morning, he was released from the hospital and picked up by his aunt, Latrice Harris, to recover at home.

Robinson later walked out of the home briefly with his cousin and aunt.
“It’s not natural for a child to get shot. However, he’s coming along,” said Harris.
The second-grader suffered a bullet wound to the buttocks. His mother said he is scared to be outside after the incident.
Harris shared her thoughts on gun violence in South Florida.
“There are other ways to solve problems besides picking up a gun,” she said.
Police continue to search for the gunman.
Harris said something needs to be done to stop the shootings.
“Conflict resolution. There are other ways to solve problems besides picking up a gun,” she said. “I think if we implement that within the schools and teach our kids conflict resolution, less problems we’ll have when it comes to things of this nature.”
Detectives returned to the neighborhood on Monday in search of tips that could help them find the shooter or shooters.
