Metro Adds San Fernando Valley Zone To On-Demand Service
Metro added a zone to serve much of Northridge and Chatsworth with a new ride-share service.
CHATSWORTH, CA — Metro added a new Northwest San Fernando Valley zone to its Metro Micro program, an on-demand ride-share service it launched over the summer.
Metro Micro offers services similar to ride share apps such as Uber and Lyft; users in groups of up to 10 can order a ride when they need it or schedule it ahead of time within the service's working hours. Metro Micro will offer rides within eight zones across Los Angeles; rides must stay within one zone of service.
There are hundreds of set pickup and drop-off spots within the Northwest San Fernando Valley zone, according to the Metro Micro website.

The zone includes parts of Chatsworth, Northridge, Granada Hills and Porter Ranch. People can use it to access California State University, Northridge; the Northridge Fashion Center; parks; hiking trails; Metro's G (Orange) line; and Metrolink's regional rail service.
For the next couple months, every ride is just $1, a promotional fare for the program's launch. After that period, prices may rise to $2.50 per ride, the Los Angeles Times reported. Riders can pay for their Micro ride with a Metro TAP card.
