A 22-year-old El Paso man was seriously injured in a high-speed motorcycle crash Saturday night in the Northeast, police said.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was hospitalized in stable condition with serious injuries, according to an El Paso police news release issued Sunday.

The crash occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Gateway South Boulevard, north of Hondo Pass Drive, police said.

The man was riding a 2019 Suzuki GSX-1300 at a high-speed on Gateway South when he lost control and hit a curb on the ramp to enter U.S. 54 South, police said.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike in the impact and landed on a rock embankment. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.

The single-vehicle crash is under investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
