Meghan McCain lands 'uncensored' Daily Mail gig. How can we miss her if she won't go away?

Meghan McCain isn’t hurting for work.

McCain, who left her job as co-host of “The View” in August at the end of last season, has signed on as a columnist for DailyMail.com, the online version of the British tabloid.

“Everything in my life these days is about going back to basics,” she tweeted. “I started as a columnist & am thrilled at the chance to return to it @DailyMail — I am so excited to work in a completely uncensored free space.”

A threat? Or a promise? Her musings weren’t exactly constrained on “The View,” where she often clashed with her more liberal-minded co-hosts. McCain often touted herself as the only conservative person on the show.

Maybe the people who run “The View” agree. They haven’t filled her spot, which traditionally has been held by a conservative, even though the new season started Monday. And they’re not in any hurry to do so.

McCain, the daughter of the late Arizona Sen. John McCain, notes she began her career in media as a columnist at the Daily Beast. She also has worked at MSNBC and Fox News, in addition to “The View.”

In an interview in the DailyMail.com, the publication’s publisher and editor-in-chief Martin Clarke said, “Meghan’s column will be a space for her to have her uncensored say on the news of the day whether it be political, breaking news, showbiz or issues based.”

The mind boggles when thinking of what she didn't say on "The View" — but who knows what will come of this?

Expect her to tackle 'what Americans are talking about'

“I’ve always been impressed with Meghan’s ability to generate discussion and debate and I look forward to her columns tackling what Americans are talking about,” Clarke continued.

That’s true. Generating discussion and debate has not been a problem for McCain.

In addition to the column, McCain has an audiobook, “Bad Republican,” scheduled for release on Audible on Oct. 21.

She also is serving as an executive producer on “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff,” a Lifetime movie starring Heather Locklear based on Kristine Carlson’s book.

McCain is also the author of "Dirty Sexy Politics" and, with Michael Ian Black, "America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom." She wrote a children's book, "My Dad, John McCain," which was published shortly before the 2008 presidential election, which McCain lost to Barack Obama.

McCain’s first column for DailyMail.com is scheduled for the week of Sept. 20.
