A man was riding in a Razr UTV with a 10-year-old boy when they crashed into a river bottom. The off-road vehicle rolled over, trapping the boy underwater.

Deputies went into the water and freed the boy from the UTV.

Officials say the water was eight feet high at the time of the incident.

The boy was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

Authorities did not reveal the identity of the boy and the man involved in the crash.

MCSO is conducting an investigation.
