West Hollywood City Council approved Monday a vaccine mandate requiring people 18 and over to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine to go into indoor businesses such as gyms, bars and restaurants.

Other indoor spaces that will be requiring proof include theaters, cannabis consumption lounges, entertainment venues and personal care businesses such as spas and cosmetology services. West Hollywood City Manager and Director of Emergency Services David Wilson issued a Sept. 10 emergency executive order to enact the mandate, which the City Council ratified on Monday night.

Officials said acceptable forms for proving you’re vaccinated include a CDC vaccination card, a photo or copy of that CDC card, a copy of the CDC card on your phone, documentation from a healthcare provider and/or a personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record.

Those who don’t show proof of vaccine can use outdoor areas.
Those under 18-years-old are not required to show proof.

The rules will go into effect “as soon as possible but no later than on Oct. 11”, according to a release by the city.

Those who work inside these indoor businesses in West Hollywood must show proof of full vaccination no later than Oct. 11.

In addition, city employees will have a separate vaccination policy requiring vaccinations no later than Nov. 1.
