El Paso police said the driver in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 60-year-old man Friday night has come forward.

Police said a 25-year-old Hispanic man voluntarily came forward Saturday afternoon to the Westside Regional Command.

Alonso Lemus Rodriguez, 60, was identified by police as the man seriously injured.

Police said Rodriguez was attempting to cross the 8000 block of North Mesa.

EPPD officials said Rodriguez entered the southbound lanes of Mesa when a 2014 silver Toyota Camry that was traveling in the center lane struck him and fled the scene.

The driver’s identity will not be released until the investigation is concluded according to police.

Special traffic investigators said that Rodriguez was not crossing at a controlled intersection or crosswalk when he was struck.
