The Benicia High football team scored early and often in a 61-6 win over Maria Carrillo of Santa Rosa on Friday at Drolette Stadium.
The Panthers (2-0) led 14-0 after a quarter and then 48-0 at halftime.
Quarterback Tyson Wallace was 8 of 11 for 148 yards. He tossed a 37-yard touchdown to Miles Bailey in the first quarter and a 20-yard touchdown to Simeon Harris in the second quarter. He added a three-yard touchdown run later in the second quarter and then fired a 27-yard touchdown to Jakobe Handy to complete the second-quarter scoring.
Harris added a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter and Bailey had a eight-yard fumble return for a score in the second quarter. Harris had three catches for 40 yards.
Khalani Sandoval had a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Janari Boone had a nine-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Julius Carroll had a 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
The Panthers had 190 yards rushing and allowed negative-1 to the Pumas.
Benicia won the junior varsity game 21-0.
The Panthers host Moreau Catholic next week.
