GREEN BAY - A former Bay Port High School volunteer assistant track and field coach pleaded no contest Thursday to possessing intimate photos of children.

Bryan C. Boettcher, 65, of Suamico was initially charged with five counts of possessing child pornography in June 2019. The remaining charge also is a felony.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office, acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April 2019, searched Boettcher's home and found images of prepubescent girls on his laptop, according to a criminal complaint filed in Brown County Circuit Court.

Boettcher told police that he used websites to find pornographic photos but denied downloading the images, the complaint states.

He worked as both a paid and volunteer assistant coach for the Howard-Suamico School District since 2009 and his volunteer coaching status was revoked in June 2019.

He could serve up to 3.5 years in prison if convicted.
