In April 2020, the Tuscaloosa City Council approved the renaming of 28th Avenue between Jack Warner Parkway and T.Y. Rogers Jr. Avenue to Nick’s Kids Avenue. The street was renamed in anticipation of the construction of the Saban Center in the location that currently houses The Tuscaloosa News.

The Saban Center is expected bring together the Children’s Hands-On Museum, the Tuscaloosa Public Library, the Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre, and a community black-box theater in one location.

Construction on the center is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2023, according to the Saban Center's website.
