Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for a suspect after he reportedly crashed his car fleeing from a deputy leaving his passengers, a juvenile child and a woman, later identified as Krystal Gonzales, behind.

The Wichita County Sheriff's Office released information about a multi-agency search for a suspect.

According to WCSO:

Around 2 p.m., Monday a Wichita County deputy tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the vehicle fled, causing a two-vehicle traffic accident as it ran several stop signs trying to evade the deputy.

The suspect vehicle crashed into the deputy’s patrol vehicle before the driver fled on foot leaving two passengers, a juvenile child and a woman, later identified as Krystal Gonzales, 32, behind.

A multi-agency search found the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Edgardo Rivera Jr, hiding in a drainage canal about a half mile away from the scene. Rivera was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Abandoning or Endangering a Child. He also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. His bond was set at $25,550 by a judge.

Multiple agencies searched for a man that reportedly fled from deputies on the city’s north side Monday afternoon.

Gonzales was arrested for an outstanding Burglary of a Vehicle warrant. Her bond was set at $2,500 by a judge.

According to a previous Times Record News report, both Rivera and Gonzales were arrested in August 2019 after officers were sent to the Walmart on Lawrence Road for a theft. Loss prevention officers reportedly caught Rivera swapping UPC barcodes. While escorting him back to the loss prevention office, Rivera ate the UPC bar codes. Because Gonzales was with him, she was also charged.
