According to The Associated Press, election officials expect turnout to be anywhere between 13 to 18 percent. Election officials also expect more absentee ballots, attributing the increase to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. City Clerk Janice Winfrey said she expects around 50,000 absentee ballots and turnout is expected to be anywhere between 60,000 to 95,000 out of the city's nearly 500,000 registered voters, The Detroit News reports.
As of 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, turnout stood at 11.12 percent.
