Hundreds of people gathered at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport Tuesday afternoon to welcome home Nevada's newest Olympian.

When the plane Palmer arrived on touched down, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport coordinated a surprise for passengers using two large water tankers.

Diver Krysta Palmer and her coach Jian Li You arrived home from the Tokyo Olympics and were greeted by dozens of supports who piled into the airport.

Palmer, a Douglas High and University of Nevada Reno alum, made history Saturday night becoming the first American to medal in the 3-meter springboard since 1988.

With tear-filled eyes, Palmer thanked her community for their support for getting her to this point.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve also proclaimed August 3, 2021 as Krysta Palmer Day in the Biggest Little City.

Shannon Kelly has more on Palmer's homecoming from our sister-station Nevada Sports Net.
