Longtime KROQ-FM 106.7 DJ Kat Corbett announced she’s officially quit the station, but “It’s all good,” she wrote in a post on her personal blog on Tuesday morning.

Back in 2019, the raspy-voiced DJ revealed she’d be stepping away from hosting KROQ’s midday show, which followed “The Kevin & Bean” morning show, after nearly 15 years, but she’d stay on to host the station’s “Locals Only” program on Sunday evenings. Corbett programmed “Locals Only,” during which she’d spotlight local up-and-coming talent throughout Southern California, giving artists such as Billie Eilish, Fitz and The Tantrums, Young the Giant and Cold War Kids some of their first exposure on the World Famous KROQ. She also continued her work with KROQ to the Rescue, which helped rescue dogs find homes.

“If you ever listened when I hosted middays, thank you,” she wrote in her blog post, along with posting photos of her with some of the artists she interviewed at KROQ including Bono, Billie Eilish, Chuck D, Robert Smith of The Cure and the late Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. “It was truly an honor to follow ‘The Kevin & Bean Show’ all those years. Thanks to the record reps and managers who trusted me with artists in many delicate situations. I’ll still be bugging you of course, but for now, thank you for introducing me to my heroes.”

“I am eternally grateful for my long and crazy KROQ life,” she added, noting that she was already pretty much out before COVID-19 hit, but a few of her other endeavors fell through. Now, with the world beginning to reopen, she is pursuing other passions.

Corbett currently hosts a daily ’90s alternative and grunge show at 3 p.m. on SiriusXM’s Lithium channel and is also hosting LoopTV’s New Music Video live chats at 3 p.m. Fridays on the Loop app. She’s got her debut novel in the works and can also be heard on the “One Heat Minute” podcast on Patreon discussing movies like “Zodiac,” “Josie and the Pussycats” and “All the Presidents Men.”

Corbett’s exit follows that of morning show host Ted Stryker, who announced he was leaving the “Stryker & Klein Morning Show” and the station after 22 years at KROQ in June. His last day was July 6 and he and the morning show crew — Kevin Klein, Ally Johnson and DJ Omar Kahn — shared highlights from their time together, took calls from listeners and played music by Stryker’s favorite bands.

The first “Stryker & Klein Morning Show” aired on April 6, 2020. The duo were unexpectedly bumped to host the morning slot after KROQ management dropped longtime DJ Kevin Ryder and the “Kevin in the Mornings with Allie & Jensen” crew on March 17, 2020, just as the country began to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gene “Bean” Baxter left “The Kevin & Bean Show” after 30 years back in 2019 and Ryder and Co. were tasked with launching the new morning show, which only lasted a few months.

KROQ has yet to rename the morning show following Stryker’s departure, but it continues to air from 6-10 a.m., followed by Nicole Alvarez from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Meghan Holiday from 3-7 p.m., Kevan Kenney from 7 p.m.-midnight and Bryce from midnight-5 a.m. daily.
