Sixty-four Alabama counties at high risk for spreading COVID-19

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sixty-four counties in Alabama are ranking in the high risk category for spreading COVID-19.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 risk indicator, there is a high amount of COVID-19 activity in Talladega County placing it in the ‘red’ category.

Talladega County is currently reporting 9,005 positive COVID-19 cases since April 1. Talladega County has also reported a total of 188 deaths due to COVID-19.

The state of Alabama alone is currently reporting 592,417 positive COVID-19 cases. Alabama has recorded 11,542 deaths due to COVID-19 since April.

While residents across the state of Alabama continue to make strides against the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination numbers are low compared to other states across the United States. Residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeve and receive the vaccine.
