Applications Open For Inaugural Cobb County Youth Commission

Rising ninth through 11th grade students can apply for the first-ever Cobb County Youth Commission and learn about local government.

COBB COUNTY, GA β€” High school students in rising ninth through 11th grade can learn about local government, engage in civic affairs and add a resume or college application booster through the first-ever Cobb County Youth Commission, county officials said in a news release.

The inaugural youth commission program includes:

  • Weekend of leadership development activities and learning about Cobb County agencies and programs
  • Three quarterly meetings that may include leadership development activities and community projects
  • Many opportunities for participants to volunteer and gain leadership experience in Cobb County meetings, events or activities
  • Graduation ceremony

Applications must include a recommendation from a community member β€” such as a teacher, counselor, principal, religious leader or community leader β€” who has known the applicant for at least one year.

Participants in this pilot program will provide input into the design of future youth commission programs. Completed applications, including the community member recommendation form, are due by 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20. To apply, visit cobbcounty.seamlessdocs.com.
