During a City Council meeting Monday, council members unanimously voted on a resolution that strongly encourages people to follow CDC guidance on maks.

Their resolution, however, is not a mandate.

With students returning to the Oklahoma State campus and Stillwater Public Schools, this month city leaders worry the state law preventing districts from requiring masks is making things harder.

"I'm concerned about the idea of a mask ordinance coming back into town because it's not going to be effective at the university or at the school district where half of our population spends most of its day," Mayor Will Joyce said.

"What we need is a consistent approach across a wide area across the entire state, would be helpful. We've never had that, in response to this pandemic. We've never had a statewide approach."

Joyce took to twitter in July pushing for vaccinations saying 'we are in danger of being right back where we were in the winter.'
