July 2021 Was The Wettest On Record In Worcester

Nearly four times the average amount of rain fell in Worcester over the last month.

WORCESTER, MA — You're not imagining it, July was a very rainy month in Worcester. The city saw nearly four times the average amount of rain usually recorded, making it the wettest on record.

On average, 3.93 inches of rain usually fall in Worcester during July. Last month, the city saw 13.85 inches of rain, the National Weather Service said. In fact, Worcester saw more than half its average rainfall average on July 9, when 2.47 inches of rainfall were recorded.

July was also slightly cooler than average at 68.6 degrees instead of the average 70.8. July 16 was the hottest day of the month, peaking at 88 degrees.

Meanwhile, July 31 tied was the coolest day of the month at 51 degrees. While it was unseasonably chilly, the day didn't break the record coldest day of 41 degrees set in 1945 and 1946.
