PRATTVILLE — A Prattville man is facing four counts of attempted murder and an arson charge in a firebomb attack of his ex-girlfriend's home. His two children, both younger than age 12, were in the home at the time.

Jalon Deonta Jackson, 26, was arrested Saturday by Prattville police. He is being held in the Autauga Metro Jail under bonds totaling $180,000. Autauga District Judge Joy Booth ordered a cash only stipulation on the bond.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. July 24 in the 600 block of Japonica Road in the Camellia Estates neighborhood. According to the arrest warrant, Jackson was outside the home when he  "...threw a lit container containing an accelerant at the victim's bedroom of the residence and causing a fire with the intent to cause the death of the victim and all other occupants in the residence."

The suspect's ex-girlfriend, their two children and her mother were in the home at the time.

A Prattville Fire Department crew arrived on the scene where smoke and flames were coming from the house. Everyone was out of the home by the time fire units arrived and the fire was quickly brought under control. One person was taken to the hospital.

The district attorney's office has filed a motion to revoke Jackson's bonds in the case based on a string of failure to appear in court on unrelated charges. Records show that he was charged in 2016 with robbery, theft and escape, and that he was indicted in 2018 on unlawful possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property charges where he failed to appear for court dates. In 2021 he was charged with theft of property and giving a false name to a police officer.
