Funeral Set For State Police Lieutenant From Galloway

Funeral services for a State Police lieutenant who died last week will be held Tuesday at the Beacon Evangelical Free Church in Galloway.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A funeral for a State Police lieutenant who died last week will be held Tuesday in Galloway. Services have been organized at the Beacon Evangelical Free Church from 1 to 4 p.m.

Galloway police said motorists should expect increased traffic near the Galloway Municipal Complex, particularly on Jimmie Leeds Road between the Garden State Parkway and Pitney Road.

Matthew D. Razukas, of Galloway, died July 27 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, according to his obituary. Officials have not said how Razukas died.

Razukas was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Bishop Ford High School. He graduated from the New Jersey State Police Academy in 2001 as a member of the 122nd State Police class.

According to his obituary, Razukas was best known for his expertise as a fatal accident and crash reconstruction investigator. As a court recognized expert in crash reconstruction, he assisted State Police, in addition to county and municipal law enforcement agencies.

Razukas is also remembered as a dedicated father who enjoyed being involved in his children's sports and activities, his obituary says.

Razukas had a passion for cooking and enjoyed eating spicy foods, including ghost peppers and Carolina reapers that he grew himself. He was also known as a "selfie king" to his wife, and would regularly send her random work photos, his obituary says.

Razukas is survived by his wife Lisette; children Megan, Ryan, Kyle and Riley; mother, Elizabeth; brother, Christian; aunt, Julia Baldachino; and nieces and nephews.
