GARDEN CITY, Mo. — Officials said Tuesday afternoon that a fifth victim in a Cass County crash has died from their injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 29-year-old Dakota Engel of Junction City, Kansas, has died after a crash on Missouri 7 Highway on Monday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said an SUV and a tractor trailer collided on Missouri 7 Highway at State Route F, south of Garden City, Missouri, around 10:30 a.m.

Four other victims killed in the crash were identified late Monday night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said 59-year-old Everett Ashley, of Lowry City, Missouri, lost control of the semitrailer he was driving.

The truck went down an embankment and into the northbound lanes of Missouri 7 Highway. The truck hit the passenger side of an oncoming SUV. The impact pushed both the SUV and the truck into the median and then the guardrail.

Investigators said Ashley and two people in the SUV, 71-year-old Jean Pariseau, of Herinton, Kansas, and 68-year-old Gerald Dittman, of Hope, Kansas, died in the crash.

Stephen Bennett, 61, of Junction City, Kansas, was rushed to the hospital where he also died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
