Clive police crack down on traffic violations as part of safety task force
Multiple drivers were pulled over Monday for traffic-related violations in Clive during a planned traffic crackdown.Clive police said officers wrote citations for traffic violations and found illegal drugs in five vehicles.Authorities in Polk and Dallas counties are participating in the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force. The goal of the task force is to keep Iowa’s traffic-related deaths below 300.“We're just focusing on these violations that contribute a lot toward these fatality crashes — things like speed, not wearing seat belts, not paying attention to our surroundings, moving for other vehicles,” Clive police Lt. Mark Rehberg said.So far, 179 people have died on Iowa roads in 2021.More than 300 people died on Iowa roads in 2020.
