BEDFORD — A Bedford man has been arrested and accused of molesting a young girl.

Jeremy L. Trowbridge, 31, is facing one count of Level 1 child molesting.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident occurred on June 1, when the Bedford Police Department received word from the child's mother that her daughter claimed she was touched inappropriately by Trowbridge.

Trowbridge knew the girl's mother and was visiting her when the incident allegedly occurred.

When questioned by police, Trowbridge claimed he had touched the young girl where he did in order to remove cat hair that the child complained to him of, officers said.

A stipulated polygraph was administered to Trowbridge by Indiana State Police on July 6.

ISP officer Dan Gress, who administered the exam, said Trowbridge showed signs of deception when answering three questions, all related to whether or not he had ever touched the victim's private parts for non-child care related reasons.

The Department of Child services informed police that the child was medically examined and staff reported no injuries to her. Medical staff reported potential findings of cat hair on or near her private parts, DCS told police.

Trowbridge was arrested Friday, July 31 and booked into the Lawrence County Jail in Bedford.
