LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police arrested a suspect in a deadly shooting that happened earlier in the week at a local park.

Hugo Gonzalez was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 5 and booked into Clark County Detention Center.

According to Metro police, he is suspected of shooting and killing James Edgar May, 30, at Charlie Frias Park the night of Aug. 2. The coroner said May was shot in head and neck.

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near Tropicana and Decatur. When police arrived at the park, they found May with a gunshot wound. He was taken to UMC, where he later died.

The investigation indicates the victim was being confrontational with several people at the park. He then became involved in a fight with a person believed to be Gonzalez and was shot several times.

The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived.
